Description

Cultural Competence Education for Students in Medicine and Public Health contains recommendations on cultural competence that rests at the nexus of both medicine and public health. Based on the work of an expert panel convened jointly by the Association of American Medical Colleges and the Association of Schools of Public Health, the report highlights findings by educators in medicine and public health on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes the disciplines should understand about one another. Though the respective disciplines address cultural competence in their educational programs, it is the overlap of content, as addressed in this report that is highlighted.

The report offers foundational guidance and includes links to background materials, supporting resources, and examples that can be adapted for instructional use.

The expert panel was supported in part through funding from the California Endowment.
